Event description

Ball Hanlon Schulz presentsΒ Quiet Tangents,Β a four-concert series at The Eleventh Hour bringing together Australia’s finest musicians and ensembles. Each concert will feature a set by Ball Hanlon Schulz, a set by the guest ensemble, and a premiere collaborative exploration by the combined forces of both ensembles. Be part of the magic and spontaneity of the creation of truly unique, never-to-be-repeated music!

Ball Hanlon Schulz
An unconventional trio which takes nothing at face value; constantly reinventing themselvesΒ with the sounds of their own instruments and the possibilities of their combined expressiveΒ capabilities. The trio draw from their collective experience in classical, jazz and folkΒ traditions to reveal something not quite any of the above, and hitting the mark asΒ something entirely their own. Eugene Ball (trumpet), Ben Hanlon (double bass), Anthony Schulz (piano accordion)

Nick Tsiavos and Deborah Kayser
Nick Tsiavos is a bassist and composer whose work operates at the intersections of a numberΒ of cultural boundaries: from the mystery and beauty of 6th century Byzantium and the 12thΒ century Medieval West, to the instability and anarchy of the present.

Soprano Deborah Kayser performs in areas as diverse as ancient Byzantine chant, French andΒ German Baroque song and classical contemporary music, both scored and improvised. HerΒ work has led her to tour regularly both within Australia, and internationally to Europe andΒ Asia.
