Balmain Regatta Workboat Convoy 2026 | Tall Ship James Craig, 1874
Description
The Balmain Regatta has been a landmark event in Sydney's maritime calendar since 1849. The Regatta has always celebrated a wide range of watercraft and, from its earliest days, included events for watermen in their rowing skiffs, small and big boat yachts, and novelty events. Always held on the last Sunday in October, the Regatta features races starting between the Balmain Sailing Club and Cockatoo Island and an onshore community party with band, bar, and barbecue. It remains true to its origins and is now Sydney's last suburban regatta.
The Work Boat Convoy is a parade of workboats crossing the start line and running a course on the harbor before returning to Balmain Sailing Club.
Tall Ship James Craig will follow the convoy and participate in the Tall Ship Division. There will be many beautiful work boats bringing us back to yesteryear of Sydney's working harbour.
