Banana Phone is an original, semi-absurdist comedy about the human struggle for a true sense of purpose. As the lives of a Postal Officer, Janitor, and Clown are intertwined for one evening in Lower Manhattan, oppositional outlooks collide while these disparate characters work towards a supposedly common goal - delivering a package to a lady who can’t be found in her own home.

John Tsakiris’ second full-length stage-play, Banana Phone, is a furthered exploration of theatrical form. It asks of its actors how they can paint real life cartoons. It asks of its directors how they can transform an intimate playing space quickly, seamlessly and repeatedly without fancy technology. And it asks of itself what the boundaries are between the genres of realism and absurdism.

It is a play designed to tickle the brain, perplex its audiences, and provide laughter for everyone who sees it. After all, our most earnest attempts at pursuing meaning in life, are often a myriad of farcical missteps.
