Baptism of Burlesque - 1 Day Workshop edition

The Baptism of Burlesque Workshop is a playful deep dive for women curious about exploring their inner landscapes - excavating stories, unveiling their sensuality, optimising their creativity, and celebrating their desires through movement, archetypes and narrative based performance techniques within the style of Burlesque.

This experience welcomes you to engage in the magnetic world of burlesque within a warm, supportive, and inclusive environment. You don’t need dance experience or performance skills—just a willingness to be curious about yourself and open to trying something new.

At its heart this workshop invites you to begin the excavation of your own unique story. Drawing on Jungian ideas of the self and shadow through the archetypes—alongside somatic awareness and movement technique you will be gentle guided to listen and tune into the many facets of expression that live within you today.

Utilising movement, discussion, and creative prompts Burlesque will becomes the playful mirror for self-expression and introspection, revealing stories, emotions, and archetypal energies that are ready to be seen, felt, and embodied.

Across the day we will cover

• A brief overview of the different styles of burlesque,

• Somatic embodiment

• Creative movement exercises

• The art of Character embodiment and story telling

• Foundational techniques that awaken posture, presence, and play.

• Discover the transformative principles of tension through gaze, rhythm, attitude, and timing

• Practice being witnessed

For many women, this becomes a space to reconnect with parts of themselves that everyday life often asks us to hide—sensuality, boldness, humour, softness, power. It’s not about becoming someone else; it’s about discovering the story that is already living in you today and giving it permission to move.

Expect laughter, a little daring, and the joy of exploring femininity in a space that celebrates curiosity, confidence, and community. The workshop is open to all women and designed to be inclusive, supportive, and deeply fun.

By the end of the day participants often leave feeling more embodied, expressive, and pleasantly surprised by their own stage presence. You’ll gain an introduction to the foundations of burlesque, experience the thrill of playful performance, and connect with other women exploring the same curiosity and courage.

The Baptism of Burlesque Workshop also serves as a bite sized version of my full 10-week burlesque mentorship, where students go on to develop profounds shifts in self awareness, technique and presence as they dig deep within their own psyche and craft own unique burlesque act. While this one day version cannot be compared to the transformational qualities of its 10 week counterpart it is very much designed to bring accessibility and serve as a way to continue to build community, accessibility and awareness for woman as they journey towards self empowerment & healing through embodied sensuality.
