BARBARA (EORA) // ALBERT BLANK // MARUMARU
Event description
BARBARA is a Sydney/Eora based minimalist synth-driven Indie Pop project conceived by former stand-up comedian Ian McCarthy (He/They). With a penchant for early 2000’s electro production and a deep sentimental vocal presence that has been compared to the likes of Julian Casablancas and Nick Cave, BARBARA combines sharp abrasive beats with dreamy ear-worm hooks and a splash of pop experimentation.
After a sold out debut show earlier this year, BARBARA will be celebrating the release of our debut EP ‘In Light of Recent Events’ with a Naarm launch show- inviting all of our interstate friends and enemies to come boogie with us.
Joining us on the lineup for our Naarm show will be Naarm-based Albert Blank and Eora/Naarm/Kyoto experimental trailblazer MaruMaru
Mamma Chen’s acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and the Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation, the true owners of the land that we live and operate on. We would like to pay our respects to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
