Matthew James Lyons
Matthew James Lyons is a singer-songwriter from Sydney who finds himself tangled within the strings that tie folk and country with melodic pop. Initially inspired by Paul Simon and The Beatles, Lyons’ songs feature a distinct melodicism and unique wordplay. Further inspired by icons including Paul Kelly, Jackson Browne and Neil Young, Lyons’ songs are informed by the singer-songwriter tradition to embody thoughtful and reflective writing that is equally intimate and evocative. SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN (August 24, 2026), Lyons’ upcoming release, is a collection of deeply personal songs that explore the fragile balance of hope and despair that can exist within relationships and the individual trials of the human condition. The first two singles from the album have received community radio play in Australia and abroad and have been featured on ABC Country’s Grassroots program. Lyons’ previous releases, EVERYTHING THAT WAS (2016) & RELICS (2021) are available on all streaming platforms.
