Basic Driving Orientation for Filipinos in Canberra and Queanbeyan
Event description
Basic Driving Orientation for Filipinos in Canberra
Organised by the Canberra Pinoy Advocacy Group (CPAG)
The Basic Driving Orientation is a free and informative session designed to support newly arrived Filipino migrants in Canberra and Queanbeyan who are eager to learn how to drive and navigate Australia’s road rules with confidence.
Organised by CPAG, this session aims to empower members of the Filipino-Australian community by providing essential knowledge on:
How to convert a Philippine driver’s licence into an ACT licence
Driving attitudes and road safety practices in Australia
Understanding local traffic rules and regulations
Steps toward becoming a confident and responsible driver
The orientation is part of CPAG’s broader Driving Program, which also includes:
A Basic Car Maintenance Orientation, teaching participants how to care for and check their vehicle
A Volunteer Instructor–Learner Matching Scheme, connecting learner drivers with experienced volunteers in the community
The event will include merienda (snacks) and is an opportunity to meet others on the same journey, ask questions, and connect with supportive mentors.
Whether you're starting from scratch or simply need guidance on converting your licence, this orientation is a welcoming first step toward driving safely and legally in Australia.
