Price FREE Get tickets

Event description

This no-cost workshop is part of the City of Whittlesea's Sustainable Communities Workshop Series, now in its second year.

Basic Grafting

Would you like to grow different varieties of fruit on the same tree? Learn to graft your own fruit trees and you can spread out your season with apple trees producing early, mid and late-ripening apples, or even a lemon and lime tree! Join home food production expert, Kat Lavers, and add this exciting technique to your gardening skills.

The workshop will cover:

  • basic plant biology and what makes grafting work
  • how to graft safely and successfully
  • simple grafting tools for home gardeners
  • small group coaching so you can practice the technique

Snacks will be provided. This workshop is for adults 18+ due to the fact we'll be using very sharp knives.

The CoW Sustainable Communities Workshop Series aims to up-skill City of Whittlesea community members in the art of sustainable, climate-resilient living and community-building.

Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions to be entered into a prize drawing at the series' end. Every workshop participant will also receive a certificate of recognition for their participation and have the opportunity to share their learnings and creations at the celebration showcase in November 2024.
