Basic Principles of Geology
Description
Join DLC and retired geologist Tom Loucks to learn about the basic principles of geology. If you've attended any other geology event throughout the years, this is the perfect opportunity to get your geological fundamentals down! Tom will summarize how rocks form, how earth’s processes modify them, and how one might deduct a rock’s or even a landscape’s history when seeing it.
This lecture can fill in gaps in your knowledge if you took a Douglas County field trip and want to know more, if you wish to be better prepared for this year’s geology field trips, or if you simply want to know more about the processes that sculpt the landscapes we enjoy every day. He will summarize how rocks form, how they are changed by earth’s processes, and how you might guess a rock’s or even a landscape’s history when seeing it.
The parking lot at the Lone Tree library can fill up fast- extra parking is available at Target just across Sky Ridge Ave. Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to find a parking spot and find us upstairs.
DLC classes are offered free of charge, but a $10 per person donation is suggested so that we may continue to offer educational outreach classes in the community.
