Basil's Kite, HYMMNN, Freezer & Pictures with Yuki at Smokey Dan's
Event description
Get ready for an absurdly heavy gig this December at Smokey Dan's! Wollongong mathcore outfit Basil’s Kite is bringing their massive sound to the south coast alongside Canberra math punk band HYMMNN and our very own local punks Freezer and Pictures with Yuki. Time to BBQ and mosh. This event is open to all ages, but probably not suitable for younger kids, there will be language and possibly a wall of death.
Basil’s Kite
Basil’s Kite is an Australian Microtonal Mathcore outfit with members spanning from Katoomba to Wollongong. Formed in 2011, they are best known for their absurdist maximal approach to Heavy music, harmonically punctuated by their custom-made Microtonal guitars. Throughout their lifespan, they have shared the stage with broad and varied acts such as Bomb! The Music Industry, COFFIN, Rolo Tomassi, Totally Unicorn and Sex On Toast.
HYMMNN
HYMMNN is based on Ngunnawal/Ngambri Land, with members on the land of the Gadigal and Wurundjeri peoples. Nasty hot math punk sharply crackling... think Dillinger think SkinGraft Records. Dense fumes disorient, a distorted amyl nitrate catharsis. Dedicated to intensity; dedicated to DIY. Always in dialogue around making hardcore safer for everyone.
Freezer
Batemans Bay birthed dark punk/skeleton aberrants, back from canberra for their first gig on the south coast in 8 months. they like to spend their recreational time in large vats of low quality mulch.
Pictures with Yuki
Pictures with Yuki are a 4 piece shoegaze group based on the south coast. Influenced by 90sgaze and the scene in Philadelphia, pictures with yuki bring the lush, blown out shoegaze sound you’ve been dreaming of. Starting off as a small town string quartet playing sonatas by Bach, pictures with yuki woke up to them selves changed identity drastically. deciding to go with a dense, noisy gaze sound that makes your bones ache.
