In this introductory workshop, you'll learn the beginner basics of hidden coil technique including how to:
- create a starter circle
- progress your work and build a base using figure 8 stitch
- raise and shape the sides
- finish your piece.

In this 3hr session you'll create a shallow trinket dish or small bowl to hold your treasures,

The materials are simple - you'll be working with raffia (a natural fibre), a wide-eyed tapestry needle and your hands.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners or those wanting to revise foundation techniques before progressing to more complex projects.

Please note: basket weaving is a slow and incremental process that cannot be rushed. It's not complicated, it simply takes time... People work at different paces. If you don't complete your piece during the 3-hour workshop, you will certainly go home with the knowledge and skills to do so! If you catch the weaving bug, you can always come along to one of our monthly social sessions to continue your journey alongside other creative folk - affectionately deemed "basket cases."
