How This Seminar Will Help You and the Dogs in Your Life

Do you live or work with dogs who bark, lunge, growl, or flee? Or puppies?

This seminar will give you skills that make everyday life with dogs feel easier, calmer, more predictable, and more connected.

Through a blend of presentation, discussion, practice, and live demonstration, you’ll learn to support dogs of all breeds:

  • Read subtle canine body language

  • Set up effective, real-world training scenarios

  • Apply updated BAT leash skills, including Grisha's innovative Leash Belay system

  • Support calm, resilient behavior in complex environments

You’ll also explore how to stay grounded and responsive, so you can support dogs skillfully even in unpredictable situations.

This is a workshop to work on the human end of the leash. We'll have a practical sessions to work on leash skills with each other and also demonstrations of BAT with dogs, so please leave your dogs at home.

About BAT

Behavior Adjustment Training (BAT) is a trauma- and attachment-informed approach that has helped people around the world support over 200,000 dogs!

BAT helps dogs and their humans feel safer by increasing choice and control, reducing reactivity, fear, and stress without force, correction, or heavy reliance on food rewards.

Developed by author and trainer Grisha Stewart, BAT combines proactive leash skills, thoughtful setups, and real-life learning to support calm behavior. Body language, nervous system awareness, and trust are all important ingredients for BAT.

Ideal for both professional dog trainers and everyday dog guardians, this humane, science-based approach is designed for real-life situations: leash reactivity, aggression, fear, and confidence building.

More About the Seminar

Grisha Stewart has taught her much-loved BAT seminars around the world, from Sweden to Brazil to Taiwan to the UK and beyond. After a decade of near-constant travel to teach, she shifted her focus in 2019 to building her online Academy for dog professionals and deepening her work.

Now, she’s offering a newly updated 2-day in-person seminar; a rare opportunity to learn with her live. We have a large venue, but we anticipate that tickets will sell out.

This isn’t a throwback. It’s a fresh, current take on the latest version of BAT for real life, grounded in years of continued teaching, observation, and refinement.

Helpful for dog professionals, shelter staff & volunteers, dog sports competitors, and family dogs struggling with reactivity.

Dogs: this is a large seminar for humans (i.e., not like a regular dog training class). Please leave your dog at home unless you've arranged for your dog to be one of the demo dogs.

Continuing education: Professional dog trainers and behaviorists can earn CEUS (continuing education units). We expect to have them for the IAABC, CPDT, and KPA. Let us know if you need them for another organization.

Expert reviews of the BAT book

  • The results speak for themselves.

Stewart gives control back to the dog allowing a delicate balance of freedom, the ability to make choices and safety. Dogs that were once reactive now become more confident.
