Evening Bat Fly-out #1
Event description
Australia is home to 11 species of flying foxes and 70 species of microbats. But did you know that Bendigo’s flying foxes are an endangered species?
Join the City of Greater Bendigo and the Central Victorian Bat Alliance for a twilight talk on Bendigo's bats, from the fruit-eating flying foxes to the tiniest of microbats! Find out about what they eat, where they live and why they are important for a healthy environment.
Come along at 5pm to listen to a talk on Bendigo's diversity of bat species and view them up close through binoculars. Around 5:45pm we will go on a short 2 minute walk to the Dai Gum San Chinese Precinct to watch the Grey-headed Flying Foxes take flight for their evening foraging.
What to bring: This is an outdoor event so wear weather-appropriate clothing.
Meeting point: Rosalind Park - Pine Lawn (2), near the fernery
Note: This event is weather-dependent and may be cancelled if poor weather conditions are forecast.
