Bat Night Stalk: An Evening with the Microbats of Beeliar Wetlands

Join Batman Joe for a twilight journey to observe the fascinating microbats of Southwestern Australia in their unique homes!

Prepare for an enchanting evening of discovery with our "Bat Night Stalk" event, specially designed to bring you closer to the elusive world of microbats. Nestled within the beautiful surroundings of the Beeliar Wetlands Reserve, our program offers a unique glimpse into the lives of these tiny, yet crucial, creatures. Led by the renowned Batman Joe Tonga, participants will embark on a nocturnal adventure to explore bat boxes, the artificial roosts that provide sanctuary for these bats within the reserve. These boxes have helped boost habitats for microbats that normally roost in trees, but are suffering loss of habitat caused by urbanisation. This engaging walk not only shines a light on the sophisticated echolocation methods microbats use to navigate and hunt but also underscores their pivotal role in maintaining a balanced ecosystem. As night descends, witness the microbats emerge for their nightly foray, offering an exceptional opportunity to observe these creatures in action. This workshop is an unmissable experience for nature enthusiasts and offers insightful ways to contribute to the conservation of our winged friends.
