Bathrooms are one of the most challenging environments our clients navigate every day — and often where confidence, safety, and independence are first impacted.

This hands-on, practical education session is designed for Therapists who want greater confidence translating assessment findings into the right bathroom assistive technology for each client.

In this two-hour workshop, you’ll work through real-world scenarios and practical assessment strategies for toileting, showering, and bathing. You’ll see, handle, and discuss a range of bathroom aids while strengthening your clinical reasoning around why one option may be more appropriate than another.

Whether you’re a new graduate or an experienced Therapist, this session will provide practical tools, clearer decision-making, and takeaways you can use immediately in practice.

What You’ll Learn

• Assess toileting, showering, and bathing tasks with a clear function and safety focus

• Apply key clinical considerations including mobility, pressure injury risk assessment and management, balance, endurance, postural support, continence, and carer involvement

• Identify physical and environmental factors influencing bathroom AT prescription

• Differentiate between similar bathroom aids and make confident, clinically-justified prescription decisions

• Recognise contraindications and red flags where equipment may increase risk for a user and/or their supports

• Understand when equipment can be appropriately trialed in a showroom environment versus when an in home trial is functionally/clinically essential

• Apply practical setup, adjustment, and client education strategies
