Baya - Ngara - Banga (Speak - Listen - Make) Opening Night
Event description
Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative presents its annual Mardi Gras exhibition Baya - Ngara - Banga (Speak - Listen - Make) curated by Steven Ross.
This exhibition partners with Blackbooks and features poetry from Nangamy - Mana - Djurali (Dream - Gather - Grow). Nangamy - Mana - Djurali (Dream - Gather - Grow) is an anthology of First Nations LGBTIQA+ poetry edited by Alison Whittaker and Steven Ross.
For this exhibition, Boomalli LGBTIQA+ artists have each selected a poem as inspiration or provocation for their artwork.
The opening night of Baya - Ngara - Banga (Speak - Listen - Make) will celebrate the work of the artists and writers and be a chance for the community to come together to celebrate 2023 Mardi Gras and World Pride.
Exhibition continues until Saturday 25th March 2023
