Each year Cotton Australia, with the support of sponsors, host the Australian Cotton Industry Awards.

One of the key awards is the Bayer Australian Cotton Grower of the Year.

A feature of the Bayer Grower of the Year Award is that the awardee, with the support of the cotton industry, hosts a field day early in the next calendar year.

Join us at 'Tyunga' as Johannes and Scarlett Roellgen host the 2023 Bayer Cotton Grower of the Year Field Day.

Agenda

The theme of the day is Nature and Numbers.

The day will comprise of a full farm tour of Tyunga, where Johannes and his team will showcase the tools and processes they use to make decisions around soil nutrition, Integrated Pest Management and crop rotations to ensure the most efficient use of inputs to maintain yields. The system developed on Tyunga focusses on maintaining the natural assets of the farm and making decisions based on long term monitoring and data collection. 

A speaker session will include:

    ow Data Driven Decisions allow them to make the most of their resources in a mostly rain-fed cropping system. 
  • Brooke Summers - Cotton Australia insights into current global market trends affecting our brand and retail customers, what’s driving demand for myBMP and Better Cotton - and what Australian cotton farmers can do to meet changing demands.
  • Kim Bowman - Agripath High profits from cotton – Agripath collects and analyses data from 80 cotton farms per year & they highlight the key factors/attributes of top performing farms.
  • Dr Majella Mumford - Carbon Friendly Opportunities in the carbon space - how to set a baseline, how to meet mandatory requirements, and how to best benefit from understanding your GHG emissions

Transport

Buses to the event will depart at 7am, and return from Tyunga at 2pm, from:

  • Toowoomba (Kearney Springs Park, cnr Spring & Ruthven Sts)
  • Dalby (pick-up Thomas Jack Park - near Pratten Street carpark)

You are welcome to drive to the Field Day but please note parking is limited and you are encouraged to carpool where possible.
