Bayside Roving Repair Bike Maintenance and Repair

This event has passed Get tickets

    Event description

Bikes need maintenance. They are vulnerable to rust, can need a tune up, and get tyre punctures. You might feel this is complicated or costly to take to a specialist bike repair shop. But if you have some basic skills you can properly care for your bike and keep potential professional repairs to a minimum.

This is the final workshop, as part of Bayside City Council’s innovative new Roving Repair Program.

The program aims to empower our community to repair and reuse household items.

Bayside City Council is dedicated to reducing waste within our municipality by encouraging everyone to repair items instead of throwing them away.

At our bicycle maintenance and repair workshop you can hear bike experts talk about:

    • Basics of bicycle mechanics/how components on a bicycle work
    • Brake tuning
    • Gear tuning
    • Wheel alignment
    • Tyre changing and
    • ongoing care of push bike

If you have a bike that needs some tinkering and you can bring it in, and chat with our experienced bike owners who can support you to fix the bike. If they can’t help you fix it they will provide advice about what needs to be done and where you can go.

Places are limited, so bookings are essential.

This event is being coordinated by Let Me Be Frank, on behalf of Bayside City Council.

The program is made possible thanks to funding from Sustainability Victoria.

If you’re a keen mender you can register your interest here, and we may be able to help you share your skills!
