Bayside Roving Repair Small electronics and appliances
Event description
Please join us for the third workshop, as part of Bayside City Council’s innovative new Roving Repair Program.
The program aims to empower our community to repair and reuse household items.
Bayside City Council is dedicated to reducing waste within our municipality by encouraging everyone to repair items instead of throwing them away.
Do you have an item that needs a simple repair but you don’t have the skills or tools to do it?
We live in a society where it is often easier to buy something new than to repair it, but thanks to Bayside’s Roving Repair Program that’s changing.
Join our experienced repairers, to get advice and support to mend and repair household items. Perhaps you have a kettle or toaster that needs some TLC? Or a small electronic item that needs fixing.
Bring your items along to this event, where we will have experts and volunteer repairers on hand to support you.
Please note repairs will not include internal electrical work, such as internal wiring or circuit boards.
We can look at items and our experienced repairers can help you work out what the issue is if you're not sure. If the issue is electrical they can offer advice about what to do.
Issues we will try to help with include things like:
- Clogged filters
- Jammed motors or fans
- Broken parts
- Structural issues like missing or broken springs or levers
- Snapped or broken pins
- Replacing cables and cords
- other non-electrical errors
This event is being coordinated by Let Me Be Frank, on behalf of Bayside City Council.
The program is made possible thanks to funding from Sustainability Victoria.
If you’re a keen mender you can register your interest here, and we may be able to help you share your skills!
