Bayside Women Artists' - Group Exhibition
Event description
We warmly invite you to view the Bayside Women Artists’ Exhibition showcasing an exquisite collection of new paintings inspired by the beauty of nature.
The Bayside Women Artists are a dedicated group of innovative Melbourne artists who have been painting together regularly in Beaumaris and beyond for many years. The featured artists in this exhibition include Alex Hetrel, Christine Huntley-Harris, Diane Layfield and Greta Lilley.
This series of works will highlight landscape, seascape, abstract and still life subjects, captured in oil, acrylic and watercolour mediums.
While each artist has their own visual language and unique stylistic approach to realist subjects, they all relish the opportunity of en plein air painting, in the tradition of Australian Impressionists. The Bayside Women Artists have embraced the en plein air method, often choosing to paint outside, to capture the transient and translucent nature of light upon the landscape.
Just as pioneering Beaumaris artist Clarice Beckett expressed an empathy and sensitivity in her depiction of everyday subjects, these artists imbue their paintings with lyrical beauty, subtle moods and simplicity, and in doing so, engage viewers with a sense of joy and quiet contemplation.
To continue International Women’s Day celebrations in March, we invite you to visit this exhibition to reflect upon the contribution and importance of contemporary women artists in Melbourne. This Exhibition honours the authentic reflection of women’s perspectives, as seen through the eyes of these truly expressive artists. Their paintings hold an emotional resonance, as they explore the alluring visual experience and feelings of fleeting moments in time.
We welcome you to “Meet the Artists” on Sunday 16 March 2-4pm at Malvern Artists’ Society Gallery. This will be a relaxed opportunity to share conversations with the artists and experience this dynamic Exhibition.
