Bayswater Special Mother’s Day Weekend Workshop with Claudia Richards & Tegan Jenkins and our Care to Rewear Clothes Swap
Event description
Celebrate Mother’s Day with a creative and mindful workshop - Upcycle & Repair with Patches led by Claudia Richards and Tegan Jenkins.
Meet the Artists:
👗 Claudia Richards is a creative art therapist, and creator of Patchquirk, where she crafts clothing from scraps, offcuts, and second-hand textiles to sell locally. After questioning the fast fashion industry, Claudia embraced slow fashion for herself and hopes to empower others to rethink their clothing choices and repair garments with love and creativity.
🧵 Tegan Jenkins is a Perth-based artist and arts educator with a deep passion for slow and mindful fashion. She learned to sew at a young age and enjoys making and mending clothing alongside her "sew-sister," Claudia.
Upcycle & Repair with Patches Workshop
In this hands-on session, you’ll learn how to create a beautiful hexi-flower patch to cover marks, holes, or logos on your clothing. Using simple hand-stitching techniques, you’ll craft a unique patch from scrap materials, which you can sew onto an item of clothing at the swap, or one you bring from home. Or to just keep for later when you need a patch for a repair!
What to Bring:
All materials are provided; however, you can bring fabric scraps or garments from home that you’d like to repair (think jeans, jackets, anything made of denim, t-shirts, jumpers etc.)
Workshop Details: 📅 Date: 10/05/2025
🕙 Time: 10am to 12pm
📍 Location: Bayswater Drill Hall
👥 Suitable for adults and young people aged 10+ (under parental supervision).
