BUSTING BLACKBERRIES: BIOLOGICAL CONTROL

Join Kiewa Catchment Landcare Groups and Dr Raelene Kwong to learn about biological control for blackberries and other weeds.

Managing blackberries and other invasive plant species in our landscape is important as they threaten our environment, agricultural production and cultural heritage. Blackberries and other weeds pose a community-wide challenge. However overcoming these invasive plants is not impossible, it just takes an understanding of the best practice management techniques.

THIS WORKSHOP WILL COVER:

What is biological control?
What are the benefits/ challenges of biological control?
The process of getting a biological control to release stage
Biological controls available for various weeds
How you can help with biological controls in our landscape
A weed walk along the Yackandandah Creek

DETAILS

This is a FREE event.
Morning tea provided
Physical Fitness level required: EASY (sitting/standing for up to 1hr plus a walk along the creek)

WHAT TO BRING

Pen/paper if you would like to take notes
Water bottle
Bring sun protection and a raincoat or umbrella in case of showers
If you are unwell on the day please remain at home in consideration of the health of others

While we are able to cater for vegetarian options at our events it is difficult to cater for every dietary requirement due to our limited funding. If you have dietary requirements outside of these two options please bring your own food and drink.
