This October, Byron Bay Outdoor Cinema invites you to experience Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar (2014) in 4K, under the stars at The Farm.

Created in collaboration with Gold Coast Astronomy and taking place during World Space Week, this special screening goes beyond the movie to explore the real science and universe that inspired it.

Expect an evening of cinema, astronomy and discovery — all beneath the real night sky. ✨

Before the film, join Gold Coast Astronomy’s experienced local Astronomy Guide John McDonald for a fascinating look at the real science behind Interstellar.

From black holes and gravity to space travel, distant worlds and the immense scale of our universe, discover where science fiction meets scientific reality.

💬 You’ll also have the chance to ask questions — about Interstellar, astronomy, black holes, space or anything you’ve always wanted to ask an astronomer.

Then settle into your seat, look up at the stars and let Interstellar take you from there. 🚀

🔭 BEYOND THE SCREEN: ASTRONOMY EXPERIENCE

Take the experience even further with a special solar + night-sky telescope experience presented by Gold Coast Astronomy.

☀️ Before sunset, safely observe the Sun through specialised solar equipment, with the possibility of seeing sunspots and other visible solar activity.

✨ After dark, professional-grade telescopes will turn towards the night sky. Depending on conditions, you could encounter planets, binary stars, stellar clusters, nebulae, distant galaxies and other deep-sky wonders.

Solar Viewing: 5:30pm–5:45pm
✨ Night-Sky Viewing: During the intermission

Solar Viewing: 5:45pm–6:00pm
✨ Night-Sky Viewing: During the intermission

☀️ SESSION C — $22.50
Solar Viewing: 6:00pm–6:15pm
✨ Night-Sky Viewing: At the end of the film

Session A & B guests will be granted early entry for their allocated solar viewing.

The Astronomy Experience is an optional add-on and requires a Premium or General Admission ticket.

🚪 Doors open at 6:00pm. Arrive early, grab some food and drinks from Three Blue Ducks and settle in beneath the Byron sky.

🌌 One of cinema’s greatest journeys into space, experienced beneath the real thing.
