Be Natural Poetry Slam
Event description
Now in its fourth year, the ‘Be Natural’ Poetry Slam is an all ages event with the broad theme of nature and what it means to you giving the participants the opportunity to stretch their creative ‘limbs’ and think about what nature and the natural world does mean to them. The rules are simple - one poem, two minutes maximum, no props, no costumes, no music, just you and the power of your words.
Guest Poet this year is Matthew Pankhurst - "The arrogance of humans often places us above nature, but we are part of the infinitesimal wonders that wander this Earth. Bringing the nature, and the slam to Nature Slam 2023 is part animal, part human, and part performer Matthew Pankhurst. Matthew designs landscapes when he is not making it to poetry slam finals. In 21 he made the winter slam final, in 22 he made the state final and in 23 has made both the summer slam final and the state final. As well as various feature acts around Adelaide he was Poet in Residence at Adelaide City Library. Where he presented a series of workshops on Slam Poetry and Green City Spaces. Well credentialed Matthew is prepared to amaze your ears."
Presented in partnership with Dymocks Adelaide, Poets sign up from 6.30pm, slam commences at 7pm.
