In this 90-minute session, we focus on the role you play in shaping how young people respond, engage, and connect.

Understanding behaviour and motivation is powerful - but what often makes the biggest difference is how you show up in the moment. This session explores the Mentor Mindset and reframes stress as a challenge, while building practical skills in how you communicate, respond, and relate to young people in real time.

We’ll focus on what it looks like to lead with connection while maintaining clear boundaries, including the small but powerful shifts in language, tone, and approach that influence whether young people open up, push back, or switch off.

You might recognise this…

You know what you should say… but it doesn’t always land the way you expect
A conversation escalates, and you’re not sure how to bring it back
You want to build stronger relationships, but aren’t sure what to do differently
You find yourself replaying interactions, wondering what you could have said or done better

Connection isn’t just about intention - it’s about how it’s experienced.

The way we communicate, especially in small, in-the-moment interactions, can either build trust or unintentionally create distance.

By the end of this session, you’ll feel more confident to:

Communicate in ways that reduce resistance and increase trust
Respond effectively in the moment, even when situations feel challenging
Balance connection with clear expectations and boundaries
Show up with greater clarity, confidence, and presence

You’ll walk away with:

Practical language shifts you can use immediately
Strategies for responding in real-time conversations
Tools to repair moments when things don’t land as intended
A clearer understanding of how your approach influences engagement

This is a focused 90-minute session designed to help you become someone young people feel safe with, open to, and more willing to listen to - even in challenging moments.
