Beaker Street Festival 2022: Dinner, Whisky, and Stars
Event description
Dinner, Whisky and Stars at the Mt Arthur Observatory, Port Arthur Tasmania.
Port Arthur is known for its convict history but now it has a new something with Australia's southern-most star observatory. Located on the top of Mount Arthur and on the property of the well known McHenry Distillery, the new observatory will be hosting an evening of Whisky under the stars with special guest visiting Astronomer Dr Matin George.
If you hunger for facts about stars, constellations and cannibal galaxies, come to The Mt Arthur Observatory on Sunday August 7th. The Observatory boasts a 235mm schmidt-cassegrain tracking telescope and Dr George will be giving an evening of star and planetary facts. Boasting a dark sky environment and located at an altitude of 400m, this is an ideal spot to learn about the heavens above us. And while your curiosity is fed a three course meal will be served.

You can either drive to McHenry Distillery yourself or meet our shuttle at Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery for a lift there and back! It is about 1.5 hours from Hobart to the distillery so please choose the safest option for you, and if you're driving yourself consider staying locally afterwards.
