Sydney dancers, it’s time to step up! Beat Breakdown is the newest 1v1 dance battle, bringing different styles to the Darling Harbour dance floor each month.

Whether you’re a master at breaking, popping, locking or waacking – this is your chance to share your style, win epic prizes and wow the crowd. 

Beat Breakdown is an open battle, with 30 spots available. Signing up for the battle is free, and it’s also free to watch. Bring your talent and your crew, it’s all on us!

Each month, we celebrate a different dance style, but in July, it’s time for our thrilling All Star Battle. We’re welcoming back all the winners and runners-up from the February to April rounds, showcasing a spectacular array of styles from Hip-Hop to Popping, Waacking to Breaking. The competition heats up with Wild Card entries joining the fray, all battling it out to be crowned the ultimate champion.

Special guests include judges Andy K, Jamie Theam Kha and Poppin Jack.

In collaboration with local legends, Dancekool – the pioneering street dance studio.

Prizes

• The major prize winner will receive a prize pack valued at $500AUD and a feature post on @darlingharbour Instagram and Facebook channels ($300 Darling Quarter dining voucher and $200 IMAX voucher)
• The runner up prize winner will receive a prize pack valued at $300AUD and a feature post on @darlingharbour Instagram and Facebook channels ($200 Darling Quarter dining voucher and $100 IMAX voucher)
  
  

Battle Schedule

• 5.00pm: Dancer registrations
• 5.30pm: Opening Showcase
• 5.35pm: Wild Card Battle Top 32 (1 x 45 sec per dancer)
• 6.30pm: Open Battles Top 16 (1 x 45 sec per dancer
• 7.15pm: Top 8 (1 x 45 sec per dancer)
• 7.40pm: Top 4 (1 x 60 sec per dancer)
• 7.55pm: Showcase
• 8.00pm: Final 2 (3 x 60 sec per dancer) and winner announced
• 8.15pm: DJ and jam time
• 9.00pm: Event concludes

Registrations for Thursday 25 July will close one week prior on Thursday 18 July. We’ll see you there! 

*Spots are capped at 30 per battle, so if you miss out on registration, you’ll be added to the waitlist. Participants must be over 16 to enter (participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).
