Beat Breakdown | Locking & House Edition
Event description
Rise to the challenge and unleash your dance potential
Sydney dancers, it’s time to step up! Beat Breakdown is the newest 1v1 dance battle, bringing different styles to the Darling Harbour dance floor each month.
Whether you’re a master at breaking, popping, locking or waacking – this is your chance to share your style, win epic prizes and wow the crowd.
Beat Breakdown is an open battle, with 30 spots available. Signing up for the battle is free, and it’s also free to watch. Bring your talent and your crew, it’s all on us!
Each month, we celebrate a different dance style, and in October, it's all about two iconic street styles - Locking and House. Locking is an exaggerated dance style originating in the 70s, comprising sharp movements and a rhythmic style that has become integral with hip hop music worldwide. House on the other hand sprung out of New York and Chicago in the 1980's at the height of House music, it associated with fluid movements and intricate footwork.
The best two performers will progress to a final and are invited to a quarterly ‘All Star Battle’ in December.
