Bee Biosecurity at CERES

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Healthy bees means more honey and more pollination. For both backyard and commercial beekeepers, keeping strong honey bee colonies relies on good biosecurity – minimising the risks posed by established pests, and keeping a look out and quickly responding to any exotic pests that enter Australia.

Luckily, there is plenty of support out there for beekeepers to fulfil their biosecurity requirements! CERES Bee Group is hosting Ally Driessen, Bee Biosecurity Officer from Agriculture Victoria, for an evening of bee biosecurity information and discussion. Ally will give an update on the Varroa situation in NSW, walk us through the Australian Honey Bee Industry Biosecurity Code of Practice, and explain the Bee Pest Blitz program

We also have Mike from All About Beekeeping coming along to show us some bee biosecurity products (such as hive beetle traps, and test kits for foul brood and Varroa mite) to help beekeepers fulfil their responsibilities and keep their hives strong and healthy.

This is a free event to raise awareness in the community about bee biosecurity. Please register to attend. Any donations received will go to CERES Bee Group.
