Successful bushland management starts long before on-ground works begin

On-line and on-site workshops

Whether you're working with a contractor, managing works yourself, or coordinating with neighbours and other stakeholders, a clear plan is essential for achieving good outcomes.

Join Kylie Roberston from EcoSkills and North East CMA for this practical two-part workshop series which will help land managers build the knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage and improve native bushland. Participants will learn:

The principles of regenerative bushland management and the Three R's framework.
How vegetation quality assessment and management zones guide bushland management priorities.
The role of EVCs in understanding and managing native vegetation.
How to categorise weeds and identify management priorities.
The importance of native plant identification in preventing off-target impacts.
How to prioritise weed management investment to achieve sustainable ecological outcomes.

Learn how to create a shared understanding of what success looks like, avoid costly misunderstandings, and ensure everyone involved is working towards the same outcome.

Participants will gain practical tools to help plan, deliver and review bushland management activities on their property.

This training has two components and you must attend BOTH (the on-line workshop delivers pre-requisite knowledge for the field trip):

On-line workshop (10 November: 4pm to 6pm) – a two-hour theory session covering the principles of regenerative bushland management and effective project planning. The webinar will be recorded and available to registered participants until 17 November, allowing you to view it at a time that suits you. Completion of the on-line workshop is required before attending the field session. We will email you webinar details upon registration.

Field workshop (17 November: 3pm to 6pm) - Clearwater Reserve, Myrtleford) – a three-hour practical session where participants will apply the principles learned online to develop a bushland works plan for a real site. Dinner will be provided at the conclusion of the field workshop. The nearest public toilets are located at Rotary Park, approximately 750 metres south of the reserve.

This event is supported by the Victorian Government with funding from the Regional Landcare Support Program and the Environmental Contributions fund (EC6). It is delivered by the North East CMA and EcoSkills.
