Whether you're brand new to sewing or looking to build confidence with your machine, this 4-week beginner class will cover the essentials to get you started. Each session will introduce key sewing techniques and guide you through hands-on projects, helping you develop skills for future sewing endeavors.
What You'll Learn:
🔹 Week 1: Understanding your sewing machine – threading, maintenance, and basic stitching. Introduction to fabrics, thread, and needles. Project planning and design.
🔹 Week 2: Garment sewing – make a simple piece like pajama or sweatpants. Learn measuring, cutting, seam construction, and finishing techniques.
🔹 Week 3: Home décor – create a customized toss pillow or pillow sham while exploring decorative techniques.
🔹 Week 4: Intro to quilting – complete a small quilted project such as a placemat, table runner, or mini art piece.
What to Bring to the First Class:
✔ Sewing machine in good working order
✔ Machine manual
✔ A spool of thread (any color)
✔ An empty bobbin
✔ Sewing machine needle(s)
✔ Any machine attachments (zipper foot, buttonhole foot, etc.)
✔ Machine maintenance supplies (oil, brushes, if available)
Basic Sewing Kit (for later classes, if you have them):
📍 Pins & hand-sewing needles
✂ Fabric scissors & seam ripper
🖊 Fabric markers or chalk
📏 Tape measure
Additional supply lists for projects in Weeks 2-4 will be provided in the first class, allowing you to personalize your choices. No need to buy everything in advance—we'll guide you in selecting the right tools and materials!
