Beginner Songwriting

Suited for ages 12-18, no matter the 'skill level' or 'musical experience'

Whether you’ve never written a song before or you’ve tried a little on your own, this workshop is perfect for ages 12–18 who love music or want to explore their creativity through songwriting. Together, we’ll break down the songwriting process into fun, easy-to-follow steps so you can start writing your very own music with confidence.

I'm Elijah Turner, your workshop coordinator! I am a passionate musician who has been creating original music for over 4 years! I’m excited to share my love for music with you and teach you all you need to know to get creating. My goal is to help you build confidence in your songwriting skills by breaking down crucial songwriting ideas into easily understood and applicable concepts. No matter your experience level, I’m here to support you and your musical journey.

In this workshop, you will:

• Learn the fundamentals of songwriting (lyrics, melody, and chords)

• Explore how to turn your feelings, ideas, and stories into music

• Experiment with creating verses and choruses

• Collaborate with others and share your musical ideas in a supportive environment

• Get 1-on-1 guidance to help shape your own original song

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have written your first complete song, or at least started one you’re proud of, and gained the tools and confidence to keep writing more.
