Beginners Macrame Plant Hanger Workshop (Adults) With Rachel from Wunder Weave

Come and learn the art of tying knots to form a beautiful Macramé plant hanger!

We’ll be using beautiful, twisted cotton rope to practice a range of traditional macramé knots and make a colourful and unique plant potholder. Add a personal touch to your living space with your own designs and give your thriving plants the lift they deserve!

Rachel Wood has years of experience creating knotted rope pieces within the shop fitting and interior space, so you will be in very good hands!

This is a great class to enjoy with your friends if you're looking for virtual birthday party ideas or things to do at home with the family. Take the opportunity to learn a new skill and get inspired by other creative minds in this hands-on macramé class at the beautiful Second Stitch studio!

Students will take home a completed knotted rope plant hanger with a range of new decorative skills and an instruction poster.

What do I need to bring

Second Stitch has plenty to share however you are also welcomed to bring your own equipment such as fabric scissors, paper scissors, pins, snips, tape measure, pens, pencils etc.

For our 6-hour classes a 30min lunch break is included. There are plenty of places to purchase lunch, or you’re welcome to pack a lunch and store in our fridge.

Minimums

We require a minimum attendance of 6 students for this workshop to run. In the event of the cancelation of this workshop, we are happy to issue a refund or credit for the next available workshop or to be spent in store.

What to wear

Comfortable clothing and shoes. Long hair should be tied up.

Location and Parking

Second Stitch is in the heart of Coburg, with plenty of access to local cafes and supermarkets.

Entry during opening hours is via 1/377 Sydney Road or through our rear entry, we are above Vinnies Fruit Shop and near the corner of Monroe St.

Getting there: We are on the number 19 tram line, 512 bus via Monroe St, or 513, 527 561, and 903 to Bell Street.

Directly behind us you’ll find Coburg Station on the Upfield line.

Parking: 3-hour parking in the Woolworths Carpark directly behind us, or all-day parking beneath the Upfield train line.

About the Trainer

Since she was young Rachel has been drawn to textiles, with a keen eye and enthusiasm for colours and textures as well as her DIY attitude, Rach started off self-taught. She is now a fibre artist and weaving teacher based in her hometown of Melbourne. Screen printing, dressmaking, latch-hooking, macramé and tapestry weaving have become a part of her everyday practice.

During her weaving workshops, Rachel creates a platform for adults to reconnect with play and imagination, to slow down and rejuvenate in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. She aims to explore the powerful aspects of community, where knowledge and skills are passed on and relationships are strengthened through a mindful and exciting experience. Rachel values her efforts in building a warm atmosphere where others can find human connection though learning new techniques and artistry.

Rachel's philosophy is to give everyone the tools to open a door to a lifetime of creativity, a skill once learnt is yours forever, and we think that's a pretty good investment!

Rachel has been teaching workshops and growing her small business since 2013 and is also a Trainer at Second Stitch since 2017.
