Event description

This event is for Beginners and passionate people who want to develop key techniques for photographing all thing nature. 

A presentation on basic camera operation: Touches on equipment, exposure, camera modes, general techniques, and editing.

Introduction to wildlife photography: Talking about ethics, equipment, animal behaviour, and weather.

And, if you are interested in a longer session, travel 10 minutes down the road to Kelly Hill CP for a guided walk with a ranger to explore, discover, and photograph a range of our local KI plants and birds.

WHO IS THIS EVENT FOR:

This event is recommended for ages 12+. Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian.

The presentation will be at the easy to access Flinders Chase Visitor Centre, while the trail at Kelly Hill is unsealed with an incline. Both sites have accessible toilets. 

LOCATION:

Flinders Chase Visitor Centre. The ranger will instruct the guests where and when to meet at Kelly Hill CP after the presentation has concluded. 

Entry to the park is free for this Park of the Month event (you will need to provide your car registration number at checkout).

NPWS aims to provide inclusive events and activities for all, however some of our events do have specific requirements for participants. Please see the activity description and accessibility information on the website to check if the event is suitable for you. This event will be cancelled in the event of declared 'Catastrophic' Fire Danger in the Kangaroo Island Fire Ban District. The Kelly Hill portion of the event will be cancelled in the event of severe/wet weather.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Sun protection and any personal medication
  • Camera (strongly recommended) or binoculars (optional)
  • Drinking water
  • Notebook and pencil/pen (optional)
