If you are planning on become a beekeeper or just interested in finding out more about bees and beekeeping then this course is for you.

Come along to Edendale Farm to one of our beginners courses and get to understand what beekeeping is all about.

In the beginning beekeeping workshop you can expect to learn everything from the inner workings of a bee hive to the amazing properties of raw honey; how to maintain a healthy hive; to the wonders of swarms and how to keep them in check. Weather permitting we'll also open a hive and have a hands-on demonstration working with hives in the Edendale apiary.

The class is limited to 12 people, and we will start the day with a small amount of practical discussion in the classroom and then followed by a hands on day opening and inspecting the hives. If you have a Flow hive we can certainly help with all your questions!

The Class is suitable for adults and teenagers who are interested to get started or learn about bees.

What should I wear/bring ? Part of our class takes place outdoors so you’ll need clothing suitable for the weather on the day. Even if it is very hot you will need long pants, long sleeves and closed shoes for the practical part of the day. We supply all beekeeping suits. You’ll also need gardening gloves or similar, sunscreen and a bottle of water.

Is there parking available? Yes there is plenty of parking available at Edendale. full class details will be emailed a week before the date
