    Event description

“It was brilliant, powerful, moving and so well-organised.” - Feedback from our first sold out show

Off the back of a successful first show we are running Behind Closed Doors again during the '16 Days of Activism' against gendered violence campaign to continue momentum, raise awareness and take action against domestic violence in South Asian communities. Behind Closed Doors uses music, dance, lyricism, fashion and visual art to reflect sensitive topics and create a safe space for the conversation without repercussions of judgment and shame.

What's actually involved in the show?

Our community experts have curated a unique 60-minute immersive performance that explores the ways abuse can manifest in South Asian families. Following this, our partners, we will lead a discussion on tangible ways that we can work with our community, culture and values (rather than against them) to reduce and eventually alleviate domestic abuse for South Asians.

Light food and drink will be provided following the event where you can forge connections and continue the conversation with experts and advocates in the sector.

This event will be fundraising for our partners, the ICSA (Indian (sub-Cont) Crisis & Support Agency) are the first NGO for the South Asian Community in Australia. They are dedicated to assisting people of Indian Subcontinent origin who are in crisis through advocacy and case management services.

All tickets and donations are tax deductible. ICSA has DGR status for all donations over $2.
