Behind the Tap: A Tour of Island Water Association
Description
Where does Sanibel’s drinking water come from? And how does the infrastructure most of us rarely see help protect public health and our island environment?
Learn the answers and more through a series of small-group, guided behind-the-scenes tours at the Island Water Association (IWA).
The tours are a collaborative educational effort involving the IWA, City of Sanibel, Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF), and UF/IFAS Extension Lee County Master Gardener Volunteers.
Participants will hear directly from IWA professionals and learn how our drinking water is produced and delivered, as well as the infrastructure, technology, conservation, and stewardship required to provide Sanibel with a safe, reliable water supply.
We're also offering tours of the City of Sanibel’s Donax Wastewater Treatment Facility this year. Learn more here.
Space for both tours is limited to 10 participants, and advance registration is required. Closed-toe shoes are required for each facility.
