Bel a cappella | ...and the River Runs Away
Event description
A diverse program of songs about love, water, and loss which features the premieres of winning works from Bel a Cappella’s 2020 Composition Prize alongside Brahms, Britten and more…
Join us for a diverse program of songs about love, water, and loss featuring the incredible pianistic talents of duet Josephine Allan and David Miller accompanying the choir in Hans Huber's musical exploration of Goethe's literary masterpiece 'Aus Goethes Westöstlichem Diwan', as we transport you into the world of Persian mysticism and philosophical contemplation as envisioned by the great German poet. Jo and David also join Bel for Richard Rodney Bennett's funny, whimsical and often cutting 'Nonsense'. In addition, this program presents three world premieres of new Australian choral works composed for Bel in 2020 when we launched our first composition competition just before COVID stopped us in our tracks! We are looking forward to seeing you at Mosman Art Gallery for an enchanting afternoon of music.
