Belonging Parade! Taranta Festival 2024 Sunday FREE EVENT

Event description

Come and celebrate a day of Mediterranean music, dance, community arts, food, street theatre, storytelling and much more!!! Thanks to the support of the Open Streets program of the NSW Government Church Street, Short Lane and the Stables car park will be closed to the traffic and the party will move outside. Let’s reimagine Bellingen as a big Italian “Piazza” where we will celebrate our roots, our diversity, our community  and the art of being alive! Think about different stages, food, a long table, dance, street theatre, traditional puppetry, circus, live music from local community groups and visiting artists, a producers market and a lot of colours, record breaking lasagna making,  … You get the idea?

The theme of the celebration is ‘Belonging’ so the invitation is to reflect on what ‘belonging’ means to us.

Everything will start around 9.30 am with a special ‘belonging’ tour starting in front of the main stage on Church Street, and a Welcome to Country from Uncle Michael Jarrett, one of our Gumbayngirr elders. Then many different pop up shows will happen, along with a market showcasing amazing creative local producers and promoting the unique sustainable and healthy lifestyle within and beyond the Shire. Music, dances and talks will happen in different stages and venues in town, getting ready for a big parade where everybody is invited to take part.

Don’t miss out, this will be memorable!
