Between Worlds

Between Worlds follows Anna Li through a sequence of contrasting worlds (desire, freedom, hope, classical, cultural, and romance) as she searches for where she belongs.

Live piano, film, projection, dance, and theatrical staging give each world its own atmosphere before it dissolves into the next.

Anna carries traces of every world with her through recurring imagery, colour and music, and the finale gathers them together to suggest that identity is not found in one destination but discovered in the journey between.

Anna trained for 14 years at The Juilliard School and the Eastman School of Music, and as a dancer with the Royal Academy of Dance. She performs alongside the dancers of Queensland World Dance Academy, led by Principal Susan Wang, whose choreography moves between classical Chinese dance, contemporary forms, and ballet.
