‘Sweet Fusion’ is an exquisite creative alignment of the traditional and the contemporary, bringing together folklore and pop in a uniquely powerful way.

A double bill of exceptional talent, starting with a dynamic musical dialogue between Sunny Luwe and Peranya Visitchantaragoon, and concluding with Menaka Thomas’ soul-searching musical explorations. Sweet Fusion uses music and storytelling as vehicles to celebrate and champion meaningful cultural exchanges.

About the artists

Soulful songstress and Weilwan woman Sunny Luwe and Thai classical musician, instrumentalist, composer, and educator Peranya Visitchantaragoon met and were instantly in awe of each other’s craft. Their collaboration reveals a delicate interplay between the hauntingly beautiful tone of Peranya’s traditional instruments: the Saw U (fiddle) and the Khim (dulcimer) and Sunny’s captivating vocals and poetry. Menaka Thomas is a Brisbane-born Indian fusion singer and songwriter, whose unique sound is a fusion of traditional Indian classical roots with contemporary and pop influences. Her show ‘Beyond Skin Deep' is a musical journey, exploring a landscape of themes that go beneath and beyond the superficial. Through her music, Menaka explores her personal interactions with cultural identity and assumptions, to physical and mental health and wellbeing.
