    Event description

Percussion experts take you on a journey through the diversity of percussion and its ubiquity across global musical cultures. This phenomenal ensemble will play music inspired by disparate influences, showcasing the depth of musical heritages in which percussion instruments are fundamental.

Joining forces to deliver an aurally and visually stunning performance are Rebecca Lloyd-Jones (QLD Conservatorium), Tanja Hafenstein (Alex Lloyd & Tulipan), Dave Kemp (The Lion King Musical), Tsoof Baras (Soundstruck), Zach Brankovich (Queensland Symphony Orchestra) and the Queensland Conservatorium Ba Da Boom Percussion Ensemble.

Together, they will present an eclectic repertoire consisting of contemporary Japanese music, Haitian drumming inspired by Voodoo rituals, West African and Brazilian grooves, a musical dedication to Ku the omnipotent God of Hawaii and the music of Mexican composer Carlos Chavez, plus a new piece especially composed for this concert.
