Sun, 18 May, 3pm - 5pm AEST

Event description

‘Fusion’ is a vibrant tapestry of sound where Indian classical rhythms, Thai melodic traditions, and Western jazz improvisation intertwine. Each genre brings its unique characteristics: Indian music’s complex rhythmic patterns and raga structures, Thai music’s lyrical melodies and ornamentation, and jazz’s spontaneity and freedom of expression.

Thainoz features Peranya Visitchantaragoon on Saw U (Thai alto fiddle) and Khim (hammered dulcimer), Ravikesh Singh on Tabla, Dhol and Harmonium, and Gareth Mewes on violin and guitar. At the heart of this show lies the concept of storytelling, with each piece conveying a narrative that draws on their individual cultural backgrounds and personal experiences, creating an atmosphere that encourages the audience to also share and celebrate their own cultural stories.

This innovative show celebrates the beauty of cultural exchange and the power of collaboration through music, and ultimately aspires to be a catalyst for cultural safety and self-expression, a world where all voices are heard and valued.

Presented in partnership with VENTspace.
