A captivating musical journey across global styles with Zenekar featuring special guests ARIA award winner Shenzo Gregorio and renowned Cimbalom player Andre Bonetti. Transcending musical and cultural boundaries, the show takes audiences on a journey that begins with the rich musical styles of Eastern Europe, moves through the vibrant and energetic French Manouche tradition, and ends in Brazil with classic Choro material with a few more stops in between. Witness local virtuosity with global sensitivity.
Led by talented clarinettist Catharina Kemp and percussionist Dave Kemp, Zenekar ensemble play a mixture of original compositions alongside folk music from Eastern Europe, Gypsy Jazz, Brazilian Choro and early Swing tunes. The quartet is completed by accomplished accordionist, pianist, and composer John Reeves and Samuel Vincent, a much sought after, versatile and dynamic double bassist.
For this show they will be joined by two very special guests. On violin and mandolin, legendary world-trotting musician Shenzo Gregorio has recorded in over 50 albums and received various awards for his work including an ARIA award with Klezmer group Monsieur Camembert. And Andre Bonetti, who has brought the rarely heard Cimbalom to the fore in Australia with his legendary ensemble Greshka, renowned nationally as an expert and with multiple appearances at the National Folk Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Brisbane Festival and the Queensland Multicultural Festival.
