    Event description

Western Australian singer-songwriter Benedict Moleta returned to live music in 2022 after a seven-year glitch.

Between 2005 and 2013 he released eight albums with a cast of many Perth players and singers.

Regrouping with friends from those days he played a 20-year retrospective show last year, and recently recorded his ninth album, to be released in late 2024.

Benedict has also recently recorded albums interpreting classical songs in German and pop, classical and patriotic songs in five languages, and will soon release three duets written in French.

Having moved to Canberra in February 2024, Benedict will be visiting Frank's to play songs from his forthcoming album, and songs going back over the years.

Nicole Smede is a multi-disciplinary artist of Warrimay/Birribay and colonial descent, living and creating on Wodi Wodi Dharawal Country. Proud of her heritage, a reconnection to ancestry, language and culture ripples through her work in voice, song, sound and poetry, exploring what it means to be ‘of Country’.

A versatile performer with experience spanning diverse genres, Nicole has performed, composed and recorded repertoire from classical, theatre, rock and contemporary music through to film, poetry, installation and sound. Her work can be found in journals, anthologies, galleries, venues and collecting institutions. To support Benedict Moleta, she will perform a set of poetry and song for voice and loop station.
