Boots & Blankets
The Launceston Benevolent Society has been dedicated to providing emergency support and services to homeless individuals, victims of domestic violence, and those struggling with hardship for over 180 years.
Our mission is to build capacity and empower those in need to engage and participate in society. We strive to provide our clients with fresh food, daily needs such as school lunches, toiletries, and clothing, all at zero cost. As we continue to support our clients through these tough times, we heavily rely on donated items and funds raised through our annual charity event, the Benevolent Society Ball.
This year, we are breaking the tradition and doing something different by hosting the 'Boots & Blankets Event' - an outdoor, black-tie event on Saturday, 19th August, on the lawns of Country Club Tasmania.
We ask guests to wear boots and bring a blanket to keep warm, which can later be donated to those in need (or bring a second pair to donate if you prefer). We will retreat indoors after dinner to some surprise entertainment that will keep you on the dancefloor all night long!
The event will feature fire pits, beautiful Tasmanian food and wine and will give guests a small taste of the conditions faced by our homeless community.
