The Bally (Balgowlah Bowling Club) has been approved by the Northern Beaches Council as one of their key venues for the activation of the 2024 Creative Open - a winter celebration of the Northern Beaches' burgeoning contemporary art, design and music scene. For our part, we’re hosting ‘Best of the Beaches’ – a line-up of extraordinary local musical talent on Friday 26 July 2024.

This amazing night of live music will be headlined by none other than Newport’s legendary Rock/Soul singer, raconteur, blistering Blues guitarist, comedian and songwriter, LUKE ESCOMBE. Luke is a brilliant showman who entertains as much with his comedic wit as his wonderful songs… he is simply someone you won’t want to miss.

Supporting Luke is captivating and highly talented Folk/World/Pop duo, LINES OF FLIGHT. Like Luke, lead singer and multi-instrumentalist Brent Keogh also lives in Newport. Brent sings and plays guitar, mandolin and Egyptian oud. Another wonderful local talent, Katie Anderson from Belrose plays flute, Irish Whistle and percussion while singing beautiful harmonies.

And opening the show is ASTROVAN, winner of the recent Northern Beaches Council Under 21 Band Competition, Northern Composure. Members of the band live both sides of the Spit Bridge, but we’re calling them honorary Beaches locals for the night! This young band blew away the Northern Composure judges with their melodic brand of Indie Pop Rock. The lead singer CAN sing!
