Teacher Seminar - Sydney - Best Practice in Screen Use for Education
Description
How can we make screen use purposeful, manageable and effective for learning?
Join us for a practical seminar drawing on findings from the Best Practice in Screen Use for Education project, including surveys, classroom observations and focus groups with students, teachers, parents and school leaders across NSW.
We’ll explore what the research reveals about classroom screen use, digital literacy, distraction and the transition to secondary school—and what these findings mean for everyday teaching.
Designed for primary and secondary teachers, this seminar offers research-informed ideas to reflect on, discuss and adapt to your classroom. The seminar will cover:
How are NSW students using screens at school and at home?
What technologies do NSW teachers use for teaching and students for learning?
What digital skills gaps do students have?
What is the nature of student distractions and how can classroom routines and task design help?
How to work with families to support healthy and effective screen use across school and home settings?
All NSW primary and secondary teachers are welcome to attend.
This seminar supports professional learning aligned with APST focus areas 2.6, 3.4, 4.2, 4.5 and 6.2 at the Proficient career stage.
