‘Beyond Chords’ Ensemble Workshop
‘Beyond Chords’ is a music workshop led by Ken Parrish where participants will explore, practice and play music from multiple genres: blues, R&B, acoustic rock, C&W, folk and jazz.
We will focus on applying the fundamentals of music theory and harmony across all these musical forms to help us accompany and improvise with confidence and play together as an ensemble.
We will form a working band from all participants with the goal of practicing and playing what we learn - and having fun in the process! Participants may contribute songs to study and play.
Enrollment will be limited by instrument to ensure a balanced ensemble. Early registration is recommended! We recommend contacting the instructor with any questions or concerns prior to registration.
Drummers: We are looking for one drummer to join this ensemble for a discounted rate – please contact Ken directly at ken@parrishworks.net.
Schedule: Fall 2026 - Six sessions
Every other Tuesday starting October 6th, 7:00pm – 9:00pm
October 6, October 20, November 3, November 17, December 1, December 15
Cost: $180 for 6 sessions (includes 7th Edition copy of instructor’s Practical Music Theory handbook)
If price is a barrier, please register using the "Pay What You Can" Registration option at checkout.
Sound System: Participants will have access to the acoustic grand piano and Bose PA system providing the option to ‘plug-in’ to the PA system in lieu of bringing amplifiers to class.

- Where can I park? Is the building handicapped accessible?
Free street parking is available in Berlin’s town center.
Yes, the building is handicapped accessible! Accessible parking is available at 19 Carter, adjacent to a walkway that leads to the lower level which has a lift as well as accessible restrooms available for public use.
There is a changing table in one of the restrooms as well.
