Beyond Mind's Shadow
Event description
Join us on Friday 8th December from 5:30pm - 8pm for an evening at fortyfivedownstairs alongside the immersive exhibition “The House That Jack Built”. Building on the themes in the poetic narrative of the exhibition itself, the event will feature poetry, music and dialogue centric to themes of mental health, loneliness and isolation.
The talented DJ Jasmine Speers (@jasmine_speers_music) will kick off the night from 5:30pm performing a set inspired by the dark and isolated themes of the exhibition itself. I’ll then host from 6:15pm starting with shedding light on my inspiration behind the installation, and am super excited to share some new original pieces written especially for the night.
Singer/songwriter Dan Cully (@dancully_music) will be performing a range of originals and covers on themes of isolation and hope, and you’ll hear original spoken word poetry, prose and perspectives from inspirational local writers Neha Kumar (@artfulyoga.gallery) and Harjyot Kaur (@hotgglue), with DJ Jasmine also taking the mic to share some original poetry of her own.
To wrap out the evening personal development coach Sam Berry (@earthsamlove) is joining us to share insights on mental health, and useful tools and resources to identify and deal with our struggles.
FREE entry (optional donation) with limited tickets available. Hugely grateful to the talented artists who’ve come together to help curate this event, and to those coming and showing their support for the themes and artists.
We hope to see you there x
